City heading for Istanbul
It’s Manchester City’s first European final for 51 years
Riyad Mahrez’s double sent the Blues to their maiden Champions League final, where they’ll play the winner of Real Madrid and Chelsea after a 2-0 win on the night, and a 4-1 aggregate victory.
Mahrez’s first goal came just 10 minutes in. The attack was made by Ederson, though. His long ball released Zinchenko down the left for a crucial pull-back. De Bruyne’s shot was blocked, and it fell perfectly to the Algerian, who finished the chance off neatly.
Marquinhos, who scored PSG’s goal in the first leg, came close to repeating the trick in Manchester, with his header hammering against the bar shortly after the opening goal.
But City’s, and Mahrez’s second, was a thing of beauty. They picked their moment to rip PSG apart. Foden was found wide left and his low cross was perfect for Mahrez to hammer his second of the night into the roof of the net.
Just like the first-leg, PSG made their uphill climb even harder by having a player sent off. Angel Di Maria foolishly kicked out at Fernandinho after a tussle on the touchline, and the Argentinian was sent for an early bath.
A big night for Pep Guardiola and his side as they officially became Champions League finalists.
