Daily Racing Tips – Wednesday 9th January
Caulfield – Race 3 5.00pm AEDT
Mahis Angel won strongly at The Valley first-up and has not had a great deal of luck in his two race starts since. He was only narrowly denied last start and the field that he meets this afternoon is not much tougher. Joe Bowditch will be able to settle him in a lovely position just behind the speed in the early stages and he is well-placed to return to winning form.
Caulfield – Race 5 6.00pm AEDT
There is no fitter horse in this contest than The Gatting Ball and this is his chance to return to winning form. He isn’t a horse with a great winning record, but this is the weakest field that he has faced in some time and he was only narrowly denied by the talented Khartoum at The Valley last start. This race will turn into a grind and he could prove too strong late.
Caulfield – Race 7 7:00pm AEDT
Never Again has recorded two wins from as many starts this campaign and he is a horse that has put together a nice record. He still has the scope to improve on those efforts and he is one of the few horses with upside in this field. The barrier draw is a touch tricky, but he does have the benefit of Mark Zahra in the saddle.
Caulfield – Race 8 7:30pm AEDT
This does look like the right race for Teodora. She has improved each time that she has been seen at the races this campaign and she found the line nicely after missing the start at Flemington last start. She will settle in the second half of the field, but that is her usual pattern and the step-up to 2000 metres is ideal for her. She is another with the benefit of Mark Zahra in the saddle and she can finish over the top of her rivals late.
