13.45 – Westminster Handicap – 5f
SPOOF was in great form in the second half of 2020 and has gone well fresh in the past. He handles good ground effectively and has leading claims. RECON MISSION is fit from the All-Weather and is back on his last winning mark. He has plenty of pace, so he should be able to make his presence felt in the opener.
Selections: SPOOF, RECON MISSION
14.15 – Blue Riband Trial (Listed) – 1m2f
John Gosden has a good record in this race, having won it four times since 2015 and the son of Sea Of Stars, UNCLE BRYN, has an excellent chance to remain unbeaten. TECHNIQUE looked potentially useful when making a winning start at Wolverhampton in January, looking very professional. This demands more, but she should have more to offer and looks exciting.
Selections: UNCLE BRYN, TECHNIQUE
14.50 – City And Suburban Handicap – 1m2f
BLUE CAP quickly developed into a useful performer for this yard last season, winning a 16-runner handicap at Sandown by 5 lengths before finishing a good fifth in a useful event in France. Ryan Moore, who rode him to that victory last season, is reunited and his mount should go well. VICTORY CHIME enhanced his good record when making all at Pontefract in September and then finished an eye-catching third on return two weeks ago. He has C&D winning form and should be thereabouts.
Selections: BLUE CAP, VICTORY CHIME
15.20 – Spring Meeting Novice Stakes – 1m
SILENT FILM looks the clear choice here for the Charlie Appleby and William Buick combination. He was second to the highly-promising Highland Avenue on debut, who has won again since, before going one place better when last seen. He looks a smart prospect with more to come this season. NOBLE PATRON improved significantly when third at Nottingham under an enterprising ride two weeks ago and should make a bold bid.
Selections: SILENT FILM, NOBLE PATRON
15.55 – Great Metropolitan Handicap – 1m4f
SOTO SIZZLER is two-from-two over C&D, winning this race back in 2019 and then finishing a good handicap on Derby Day the same year for connections. He made a promising return to action when fourth 24 days ago and has solid claims with William Buick taking to the saddle. GROUP ONE POWER was an excellent fourth in the King George V handicap at Royal Ascot and remains a lightly-raced sort, who should have more to offer.
Selections: SOTO SIZZLER, GROUP ONE POWER
16.30 – Walton Downs Handicap – 1m
DEJAME PASO had loads in hand when scoring six months ago at the third time of asking and should benefit the switch to handicap company here with conditions in his favour. PATIENT DREAM ran well on debut last year at York and if rediscovering that sort of form here, he would be a major player for his in-form handler and Rossa Ryan.
Selections: DEJAME PASO, PATIENT DREAM
