The prestigious 54th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) has commenced at the Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. With the first games beginning on May 30, 2023, players from around the globe have gathered to pursue their dreams of capturing WSOP bracelets and securing victory on poker’s grandest stage.
While the ultimate goal for most participants is to claim a coveted bracelet, there was a unique twist in Bracelet Event #3: $1,000 Mystery Millions, where a seven-figure bounty reward awaited one lucky player. That player was Brazilian/Taiwanese player Patrick Liang who drew the coveted $1,000,000 bounty prize on his third draw.
SMP: How did it feel to draw that huge bounty reward?
Liang: I mean, it sounds cliche if I said I felt it, but coming to this series, I kept saying something special was gonna happen…just didn’t know what…if it was a deep run, or a final table, or a bracelet. It turns out to be the 1M bounty!
SMP: Hows does it feel to be back at the series?
Liang: WSOP is magical, I love it. Being able to see people from all over the world in one place is really electrifying. I am happy I am able to do that!
SMP: What other bracelet events will you play?
Liang: Prior to winning this I was planning to play all the 3k and below plus main event. I think I will keep the same schedule except I might take a one or two day break to let it sink in.
Immediately after winning the million dollar reward, Liang awarded all of his tablemates US$ 1,000 each. Although the big prize won’t be recorded on Hendon Mob, his finish in 62nd place will for US$ 17,700. To date, Liang has over US$ 300K in live tournament earnings with three victories earned this year. His largest win was for NT$ 834,100 (~US$ 26,719) in Taiwan.
