Oak Street Health announces expansion into four new US states

Oak Street Health, a primary care provider for older adults on Medicare, has announced its plans to expand into four new US states: Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, and Virginia.

This expansion will increase Oak Street Health’s presence to 25 states by the end of the year.

Oak Street Health is now part of CVS Health and the expansion will help further the latter’s strategy by providing a comprehensive healthcare experience through a risk-enabled, multi-payer value-based care delivery platform.

Oak Street Health CEO Mike Pykosz said: “One of the most critical ways we advance our mission to rebuild healthcare as it should be is by bringing our high-quality primary care and unmatched patient experience to more older adults across the country.

“We look forward to meeting and caring for new deserving patients in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas and Virginia, as well as the opportunity to create meaningful jobs for those passionate about improving health outcomes for patients and bridging health equity gaps in their communities.”

In addition, the company intends to continue to expand into new communities within states.

This year, additional centres are planned for Colorado, Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Louisiana, New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

The company delivers personalised and preventive primary care to older adults through an integrated model that includes behavioural healthcare and support for social determinants of health.

Oak Street Health has achieved significant reductions in patient hospital admissions, readmission rates, and emergency department visits compared to Medicare benchmarks.
