Texas Fans Continue to Travel to Louisiana for Sports Betting Needs

  • By Admin

With the negative Texas sports betting update that things won’t be able to launch until 2024 at the earliest, it caused plenty of people to be furious. For a while now, Texas citizens have been pushing for things to be legalized, but all of the attempts in recent years have gone by the wayside. To make matters worse, the local businesses and the economy are being impacted by things. Why, you ask? It’s because Texas fans continue to travel to Louisiana for sports betting needs.

According to a report, there was a spike this summer in people crossing state lines from Texas to Louisiana. While other vacations are surely planned, the local sportsbooks in Louisiana were able to track the stats, with more numbers for people from the Lone Star State. This is an issue that proponents of legal sports betting have talked about for a while. Why should that money be spent outside of Texas?

Not only are people leaving Texas for Louisiana, but Nevada also continues to be a popular travel destination for sports bettors too. With Las Vegas being considered the sports betting capital of the world, it only makes sense that people in Texas would pack up their cars for a trip or hop on a plane for Sin City. With no legal options in Texas, people are finding different ways to get their wagers in.

As things stand, the hope is that Texas sports betting can arrive for everyone to enjoy by this point next year, but no one knows what will happen here. Things need to somehow make their way through legislation, but the only way that’s going to happen is if the right kind of sports betting bill is put on the table. With so much division among Republicans and Democrats on this issue, it’s unknown if the two sides will be able to meet in the middle.

The Dallas Cowboys hot start is being wasted by Texas

With the way things are laid out, there’s no question that the Dallas Cowboys hot start is being wasted by Texas. Last Sunday, Dallas was able to post an impressive win over the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick. With that victory, the Cowboys are now 3-1 on the year. They should be 4-0, but a rough, surprising loss to the Arizona Cardinals was recorded in Week 3, which no one saw coming.

However, Dallas was able to bounce back and Dak Prescott is looking fantastic right now. With the way Dallas has been able to perform, folks would no doubt love the opportunity to check the NFL betting odds and put money down on America’s Team. However, there’s no legal betting in the state, which is leading to people leaving for either Louisiana or Nevada (among other places) for their betting needs.

The NFL and college football are massive in Texas. That’s why the belief is that the betting market would be unreal for the state. With that, the revenue opportunities would be downright head-turning. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been trying to get things passed and he’s been joined by the owners of the Astros, Mavericks and more in attempting to get the laws changed. Jones is a force behind things.

One day, Jones is hopeful that people will be able to visit AT&T Stadium in Arlington and have access to sports betting kiosks. That would completely change the in-game experience for people, as they’d 100 percent look to place bets on the Cowboys and their star players. Football betting alone would be massive for the state. Will it be available in the fall of 2024? We sure hope so there.

Illegal Texas betting continues to be high this time of year

One thing officials have to remember, too, is that illegal Texas betting continues to be high this time of year. Not only is NFL action back in everyone’s life, but the Major League Baseball playoffs are here too. Both the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros are in the postseason, with the latter taking home the AL West title on the last day of the regular season.

Both teams have fantastic MLB betting odds right now and their fans are dreaming of a trip to the World Series. With the Rangers, they have been one of the best stories in baseball this year, as this organization has recorded a turnaround that will be talked about for quite some time. People in Texas are huge Rangers supporters these days and for good reason.

As for the Astros, Houston has the Wild Card Round off after winning the division. Houston won the World Series last year and they’re hoping to repeat as champs. It won’t be easy, but this roster has the talent to somehow get that done. With all the energy surrounding both of these Texas MLB clubs, you already know that illegal activity for MLB action is at a high level. This is disappointing, as bets being made and money being transferred in an unregulated fashion can’t continue.
