Today’s Horse Racing Odds: Saturday 6th August
There is another busy Saturday schedule of horse racing to look forward to this week, with meetings planned at Ascot, Ayr, the Curragh, Haydock, Kilbeggan, Lingfield, Newmarket and Redcar.
Saturday’s opening card comes from Ascot, which is hosting the Shergar Cup and the going is good to firm, good in places.
Ascot’s card is scheduled to take place between 13:00 and 17:05, and Betfred’s “Super Extra” place promotion is available in three races across the card.
Punters can take advantage of the promotion at 14:10, 15:20 and 15:55. David O’Meara’s Bopedro (6/1) is one to consider at 15:55 after making a strong start for his new yard at Ascot in July. Still, it will take some performance to stop William Haggas’ Montassib (7/4).
Newmarket’s seven-race card will run from 13:20 until 16:51, and the going is listed as good to firm for Saturday’s meeting.
Redcar will also host seven contests between 13:42 and 17:10, with the going described as good to firm, good in places. Betfred’s “Extra Place” promotion will be available in races at 14:52, 16:02 and 17:10.
At 13:50, the first of seven races at Haydock will get underway, where the going is good.
Haydock’s card is due to come to a close at 17:15, a race Betfred will pay up to three places in.
Star Zinc (9/4) finished fourth on handicap debut in May, and he returns after being gelded and will race with a hood as connections try to get the best out of him.
Lingfield will host seven races between 17:00 and 20:05 on the polytrack, while punters can watch the same number of contests at Ayr, where the going is good. Ayr’s opening race should start at 17:45, while the final event is scheduled to begin at 20:45.
Saturday’s Irish racing comes from the Curragh and Kilbeggan, with racing at the former due to start at 13:30. The going is good at the Curragh, and punters can watch all the action there until 17:25.
There’s some high-quality action planned at the Curragh, with one Group 3 race as well as the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes.
The going at Kilbeggan is described as good, with the card set to run between 17:20 and 20:25.
