Barcelona vs Celta Vigo Prediction: La Liga champions to continue winning run

  • By Admin

Barcelona can make it six wins in succession this weekend when they host strugglers Celta Vigo in La Liga.

Only Real Madrid have a better record in La Liga this season than Barcelona, and Xavi’s side are unbeaten so far in the current campaign.

Celta Vigo, now under the stewardship of Rafa Benitez, have only won once this season, but they will travel to Barcelona knowing they beat them 1-0 in the previous meeting between the two clubs.

Barcelona are 2/7 to pick up all three points on Saturday, and considering their form already this season, it’s not a surprise to see them so short in the market. The draw is 9/2, while Celta Vigo are as big as 10/1 to record a win on their travels.

Barcelona vs Celta Vigo Prediction

  • Barcelona to win to nil @ 11/10
  • Joao Felix to score anytime @ 6/4

Team news

Barcelona midfielder Pedri once again misses out due to a thigh problem, but Xavi does have Ronald Araujo back available.

Robert Lewandowski and Joao Felix should retain their places in the final third, but Xavi could choose from Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal to feature on the right of his front three.

Benitez does not have too many injuries to contend with, with Franco Cerci their only confirmed absentee due to a muscle problem.

Celta lost 1-0 last time out to Mallorca, so Benitez may tinker with his squad, with Tasos Douvikas pushing to start as part of his team’s forward line.

Barcelona to win to nil @ 11/10

Barcelona have not put a foot wrong since returning from the international break, with Xavi’s side keeping two successive clean sheets in 5-0 wins over Real Betis and Royal Antwerp.

The reigning Spanish champions have scored goals for fun in recent weeks, also netting four past Villarreal on their travels. Back-to-back clean sheets will have done Xavi’s group the world of good, and they should continue that against a goal-shy Celta Vigo side.

While they beat Almeria 3-2 on their travels earlier this month, they have also failed to score in three league games this season. Benitez will set them up to not lose first of all, and that will eventually come back to bite them.

Joao Felix to score anytime @ 6/4

After a turbulent few years, Felix now looks to have found a home for himself at Barcelona, and he has caught the eye in front of goal recently.

The forward, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea, has three goals in two starts under Xavi, even though he has only played 132 minutes across those two matches.

Felix appears ready to take his chance, and he is known for his technical ability and elusiveness, which will be needed to break down this stubborn Celta defence.
