Carlos Alcaraz to win 3-1 v Lorenzo Musetti @ 13/5

Men’s top seed Alcaraz will take some stopping at this year’s French Open.

In the absence of Rafael Nadal, the clay-court Grand Slam will need a new star to rise to the occasion and Alcaraz has shown he can fit the bill, dropping just one set in his first three matches.

Last time out Alcaraz eased to a 6-1 6-4 6-2 win over 26th seed Denis Shapovalov and that means he has won 23 of his 25 matches on the clay courts this campaign.

He is fancied to make the quarter-finals of the season’s second Grand Slam but his fourth-round opponent Lorenzo Musetti can put up a fight and is worth backing to pick up a set.

Musetti has won all three of his matches at this year’s French Open 3-0 and got the better of Alcaraz in the only previous meeting between the players at the Hamburg European Open final last year, so this should be competitive.

Elina Svitolina to beat Daria Kasatkina @ 6/4

It has been a whirlwind year or so for Elina Svitolina, who gave birth in October but returned to the WTA Tour in April and won the Internationaux de Strasbourg title only last month.

That stood her in good stead coming into the French Open and she won her opening match against 26th seed Martina Trevisan in straight sets.

She has come from a set down to win her subsequent two matches, showing excellent mental resolve in the process, and she could prove too hot to handle for ninth seed Daria Kastatkina, who has struggled for consistency in 2023.

Svitolina leads the head-to-head between these players 6-0 and can come out on top in Paris.

French Open Betting Odds

Lorenzo Sonego +3.5 games v Karen Khachanov @ 10/11

Lorenzo Sonego recorded one of the most significant wins of his career last time out at the French Open, coming from two sets down to knock out seventh seed Andrey Rublev.

It was the first time in his career that Sonego has beaten a top-20 player at a Grand Slam and his confidence should be high ahead of his fourth-round clash with Karen Khachanov.

Eleventh seed Khachanov was also pushed close in the third round of the French Open, edging wildcard Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia in four sets, and this could be a tight encounter.

Khachanov is the favourite to come out on top but both players were run close last time out and Sonego is worth a bet on the match handicap at +3.5 games.
