Great Yarmouth Tips: Look for Hidden Pearl

Great Yarmouth Tips: Look for Hidden Pearl

It’s back to Great Yarmouth for the second of their two-day meeting and there is another competitive seven-race card on the east coast on Thursday afternoon.

The action is highlighted by a staying handicap over one-mile-and-six furlongs and it’s possible we could see a star in the fillies maiden.

14:00 – Pfingstberg @ SP

PFINGSTBERG makes his handicap debut for David Simcock and Jamie Spencer in the opening race on the card at 14:00 and the son of Protectionist can show some improvement.

The three-year-old was sent off at big prices in three starts in novice races, but the latest of those at Windsor was not without promise.

That run came off an 108-day break and after a gelding operation and although Pfingstberg was beaten a long way at the Fig, he wasn’t given an overly forceful ride and he stayed on through other rivals.

That would have been a nice experience for Simcock’s charge and the step-up in distance could also bring about more improvement under the excellent Spencer.

Horse Racing Odds

14:30 – Hidden Pearl @ SP

The next race on the card is the one-mile-six-furlong 0-55 handicap and the consistent HIDDEN PEARL can get her head in front.

The seven-year-old has finished in the first four in all of her last 10 starts and John Berry’s charge ran extremely well when a narrow second to True Romance at Wolverhampton in December.

This is Hidden Pearl’s first start of the season, but she has run well when freshened up in the past.

A repeat of the Wolverhampton effort would make the seven-year-old difficult to beat.

16:40 – Mutanaaseq @ SP

MUTANAASEQ ran a cracker when finishing second to Liberty Breeze at Catterick last week and Ruth Carr’s charge can get back to winning ways turned out quickly in the seven-furlong handicap at 16:40.

Liberty Breeze was reversing the form at Catterick and the eight-year-old has been in fine form at the North Yorkshire track, but the eight-year-old runs off the same mark here, in what looks a lesser contest.

Mutanaaseq was slowly away and given plenty to do last week, he can probably be upgraded a little for that run and everything appears in place for a big effort on the east coast.
