Sunday Racing Tips: Jasour To Get Off The Mark At Nottingham

Sunday Racing Tips: Jasour To Get Off The Mark At Nottingham

Racing on Sunday in the UK and Ireland comes from Fakenham, Kilbeggan, Listowel and Nottingham and there is something for everyone, with two Flat meetings and two National Hunt fixtures.

One of our fancies is at Nottingham where a Clive Cox runner can build upon his second-place performance on his debut to get off the mark at the second attempt.

He lines up in a 5f contest to begin the card at Colwick Park.

Selections

  • Nottingham 14:15 – Jasour @ 4/5
  • Nottingham 15:15 – Clipsham Gold @ 5/2
  • Fakenham 17:00 – Lipa K @ 6/4

Tip 1

JASOUR came very close to making a winning start to his career when he featured at Salisbury last month over the minimum distance of 5f. He hit the front of the field with two furlongs to go but just got collared inside the closing stages.

The official margin of defeat at Salisbury was only a neck, which was even more impressive when you consider he lost his left-hind shoe in the race.

The horse which beat him looks like a smart prospect from Ralph Beckett’s yard, and he could go on to better things as the season progresses.

The son of Havana Grey features on the Betfred Betfinder as one of the most Napped selections this afternoon and won’t need to improve much on his first outing to break his maiden in the opener at Nottingham.

Tip 2

With two victories from her last three outings, CLIPSHAM GOLD has been in great recent form on the all-weather, prevailing at Wolverhampton (1m½f) and Kempton (1m).

Kevin Philippart De Foy’s runner can now transfer her hot form to turf. She was successful twice last summer on this surface, recording back-to-back wins at Leicester over 7f and 1m and both of those victories came on Good to Firm ground, which she will encounter this afternoon.

Expect to see this filly tucked away at the back of the field in the early stages by rider Daniel Muscott.

The handicapper has put her up 5lb for her latest win at Kempton, but she can defy that rise in the weights, as this contest looks set to be run to suit her late surging style.

Tip 3

LIPA K goes into this handicap hurdle at Fakenham bidding to complete a hat trick, having been victorious over this distance at Warwick and Ludlow.

The gelding defied a 3lb rise in the ratings on his latest success, coming out on top in a 12-runner contest.

Evan Williams’ runner remains unexposed over hurdles, so he could still be ahead of the handicapper, despite going up to a mark of 106.

Conor Ring continues on board and he helps keep the weight down with his 3lb claim.

There are just four rivals to beat in this latest assignment for the hat-trick seeker and it may be a while yet before the handicapper finally gets hold of him.
