Two Blue Mountain Sparkling Wines to Celebrate New Year’s Eve 2024PR SAMPLE

  • By Admin

It is New Year’s Eve today, December 31, 2023.  Have you still not picked a sparkling BC wine to celebrate?  In case you have not, I have two sparkling wines from Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars.  One is their Gold Label Brut and the other is their Brut Rosé wine.  Both wines are listed as Recently Disgorged 2019. Let me tell you about them.

My Wine Tasting Notes

Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Gold Label Brut, R.D. 2019 (BC $31.90)

Made with 34.5% Pinot Noir and 65.5% Chardonnay grapes, in the Traditional Method. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed and fermented separately. Post-secondary fermentation the wines are re-incoluated with yeast and the bottle sealed.  The wine is left to age sur-lie for 24 months before disgorging and then wait 6-9 months before release.

Appearance: A clear medium pear skin colour.
Nose: Medium-intensity aromas of pears, apples, brioche and a touch of a sweet stone fruit.
Palate: Dryish, with higher acidity. Mouthfilling with medium-minus-sized creamy bubbles.  Crisp apples, pears, and a touch of sweet fruitiness along with a touch of toast and oak.
Finish: Medium-plus length finishing with crisp apple and light touches of toast and oak.

Rating: 4.5 stars5 stars

Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Brut Rosé, R.D. 2019 and Gold Label Brut, R.D. 2019 with wines in glasses
Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Brut Rosé, R.D. 2019 and Gold Label Brut, R.D. 2019 with wines in glasses

Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Brut Rosé, R.D. 2019 (BC $39.90)

Made with 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay grapes, in the Traditional Method. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed and fermented separately. Post-secondary fermentation the wines are re-incoluated with yeast and the bottle sealed.  The wine is left to age sur-lie for 30 months before disgorging and then wait 12 months before release.

Appearance: A clear medium peach colour in the glass.
Nose: Medium-intensity aromas of red fruit and toast.
Palate: Dryish, with medium plus acidity and light tannins.  Tart fresh red fruit flavours, plus touches of floral and red cherries.  Medium-sized creamy bubbles in the glass.
Finish: A medium-plus length finishing with tart red fruit and a touch of bitterness.

Rating: 4.5 stars

I quite enjoyed sipping these wines with friends for an early New Year’s Eve and enjoying them with cheese, charcuterie, and spanakopita.

Where Can I Buy These Wines?

Locally, the Gold Label Brut is available in BC at Everything Wine stores. Both the Gold Label Brut and the Brut Rose are available at Marquis Wine Cellars in downtown Vancouver.   If you want to stock up for later, maybe Valentine’s Day, you can purchase these wines online from the Blue Mountain website:
