Wales vs Armenia Prediction: Red Dragons to continue strong start

Wales have started their Euro 2024 qualification process strongly and will be hoping to continue that when they host Armenia, who lost their opening game against Turkey.

Wales can be backed at 4/11 for this clash, while the draw is available at 7/2 and Armenia are 6/1 chances to produce the upset away win.

The Red Dragons have earned four points from the two games they have played to date, with a highly creditable 1-1 draw in Croatia backed up by a 1-0 home win over Latvia, with Kieffer Moore heading home the only goal of the latter game shortly before half-time.

Wales vs Armenia Betting Tips

  • Wales to win and over 2.5 goals @ 23/20
  • Wales to win 2-1 @ 7/1

Team news

Chris Gunter, Joe Allen, Jonny Williams and superstar Gareth Bale have all retired since the World Cup finals in Qatar, so there will be a different look to this Wales squad.

Uncapped youngsters Joe Low, Luke Harris and Liam Cullen all have a chance of making their debuts while Stoke City’s Morgan Fox could also make his first appearance for his nation.

Bournemouth striker Moore led the line superbly against Latvia and is expected to do so again here.

For Armenia, youngster Grant-Leon Ranos may feature after netting twice on his debut, the recent 2-2 draw with Cyprus, with the 19-year-old set to join Borussia Monchengladbach this summer after impressing for Bayern Munich II last season.

Wales to win and over 2.5 goals @ 23/20

Wales’ start to the new European Championship campaign has gone well, with a point secured away to Croatia thanks to an injury-time equaliser from debutant Nathan Broadhead, before a narrow 1-0 victory at home to Latvia.

While they haven’t racked up the goals in either of those games, the Red Dragons have a solid opportunity to do so here against a leaky Armenia defence.

The visitors have conceded 19 times in their last six matches with five of those six clashes went over 2.5 goals.

Armenia have been beaten 4-1 by Scotland, 5-0 by Ukraine and 3-2 by Ireland in recent matches and Wales could be the latest team to notch a high-scoring victory against this leaky away team.

Football Betting Odds

Wales to win 2-1 @ 7/1

Armenia are ranked 97th in the world and Wales, who are ranked 26th in the FIFA rankings, should have too much for them.

The Red Dragons have been testing themselves against a higher level of opponent than this recently and should relish this drop in class.

However, both teams have scored in four of the last five matches Oleksandr Petrakov’s men have played in and they could land on the scoresheet in this one.

A 2-1 victory for the home side looks like the likeliest outcome from a correct score perspective, with Wales likely to dominate this clash.
